Spider Solitaire 2 Suits: play the two-suit game free online

Two-suit Spider Solitaire splits one rule in half, and that split is the whole game. To place a card you only need the rank below: any 9 sits on any 10. To move several cards at once they must also share a suit and run straight down. Placing is easy; lifting is what you have to plan for.

The deck is spades ♠️ and hearts ♥️ only, four copies of every card — 104 cards, the same count as two full decks. One black suit and one red one means color tells you the suit at a glance, a shortcut that disappears the moment you move on to Spider 4 Suits.

On Spider 1 Suit any descending run travels as a block; here a run only travels if you built it clean.

How to play Spider Solitaire 2 Suits: the deal

  • Tableau: ten columns, 54 cards. Six cards go to each of the first four columns and five to each of the other six. The last card in every column is face-up and everything underneath it is face-down.
  • Stock: the remaining 50 cards, at the lower right. They leave in rows of ten, one card per column, so the game holds exactly five deals.

Eight of the ten face-up cards here are spades: the 10♠️ drops onto the J♠️ and that pair will travel as one, while the K♥️ waits for a Q♥️

How to win at Spider Solitaire 2 Suits

Eight complete runs win it — four in spades, four in hearts, each one King down to Ace. That is 8 × 13, every card in the deal, so no copy is spare. The table lifts a run away the instant its thirteenth card lands; finish the eighth and the deal is yours.

Spider Solitaire 2 suits rules

Four rules are specific to playing with two suits:

  • Placing looks only at rank. A 9 goes on a 10 whether the suits agree or not. No suit rule blocks it — the only question is whether a 10 is showing.
  • Lifting looks at suit too. An 8, 7, 6 all in hearts comes away as one block. Where the suit breaks, or where the ranks skip, the block ends — you can only take the cards above that break.
  • An empty column takes any single card, of any rank or suit. To drop a whole block into it, the block still has to be one suit in order.
  • A run only leaves if all thirteen cards match. A King-to-Ace sequence with one spade sitting among the hearts is not a finished run. It stays put, and it holds a column hostage while it does.

The rest of the board behaves the way it does on every Spider deal: a face-down card turns over as soon as it is the last card in its column, a tap lifts the card you touch plus everything above it and lets the game pick the destination, each trip to the stock drops one face-up card on all ten columns whether you want it there or not, and the stock refuses to deal at all while a column stands empty. Spider Solitaire sets those out in full.

Spider Solitaire 2 suits strategy

  • Mixing suits in a column freezes the card underneath. A 9♥️ on a 10♠️ is often the only move going, but from then on the 10♠️ cannot move until you lift the 9♥️ off again. Do it when you must, knowingly.
  • Give each suit its own columns. If a column starts in spades, try to keep feeding it spades. A clean single-suit column travels in one piece; an alternating one comes apart in fragments.
  • Here color is a reliable shortcut. Black is spades, red is hearts, so a glance at the colors tells you whether the block you are building will move intact. Use it while you have it.
  • Every card exists four times. Four 3♥️ and four 3♠️ are in the deal. If the one you can see is buried deep, check whether one of its copies is sitting somewhere easier before you take a column apart.
  • An empty column matters more here than at one suit. It is where you separate the spades from the hearts, one card at a time. Until you free one, the mixed columns stay mixed.
  • A deal dirties the columns you just cleaned. One stray spade landing on a heart block means that block will never lift whole again, so go to the stock only when the board offers you nothing else.

The other two versions use the same table and change only how many suits are in play. Spider 1 Suit drops the suit rule entirely and lets you count ranks. Spider 4 Suits takes away the color shortcut as well, leaving the pip symbol as the only thing to read.
