Spider Solitaire 4 Suits: the full game, free online

Four-suit Spider Solitaire is the complete game: two decks, all four suits, 104 cards over ten columns. Nothing has been taken out to make it kinder, which is why it is the version people come looking for once the easier deals stop putting up a fight.

Two things change, and both cut deep. Only two copies of every card exist — two 6♣️, two 6♦️, two of everything — where Spider 2 Suits gives you four of each card it holds and Spider 1 Suit gives you eight. And color stops telling you the suit: black is now spades ♠️ or clubs ♣️, red is hearts ♥️ or diamonds ♦️, so a tidy-looking black run can be two suits that will never travel together.

Opening deal of four-suit Spider Solitaire: ten tableau columns with one face-up card each and the stock pile to the right
Two Jacks and two Kings are showing, one black and one red of each — the Q♥️ will sit on either King, but only on the K♥️ do the two lift as one piece

Spider Solitaire 4 suits rules

Everything the board does on its own — the automatic flip, the tap that lifts a whole cascade, the ten cards a deal drops on you, the empty column that freezes the stock — works exactly as it does on Spider Solitaire. Three things behave differently once all four suits are in play.

  • Placing still ignores suit entirely. Any J accepts any 10, and the board will never stop you making an untidy pile. It will only stop you moving it again.
  • Only a same-suit run lifts as a block, and the blocks here are short. The block starts at the last card of the column and ends at the first suit change or rank skip. Everything below that break stays where it is.
  • Two copies of a card is the entire supply. Bury the only visible 4♦️ while its twin is face-down and that card is gone from the game until something uncovers it. At one suit there were always seven more.

How to play 4-suit Spider Solitaire: the deal

The layout is the same on every Spider deal. Fifty-four cards go out across ten columns — six each to the first four columns and five to each of the last six — and only the last card of a column is face-up. The remaining 50 sit in the stock below the columns on the right, and each trip there sends out ten more, one per column. That is five deals for the whole game; the stock is never recycled, so when it is empty the cards on the table are all you have.

How to win at 4-suit Spider Solitaire

You need eight King-to-Ace runs, each one a single suit: two in spades, two in hearts, two in diamonds, two in clubs. The game lifts each finished run off the table itself, and the eighth one ends it.

Is every 4-suit Spider deal winnable?

Deals are shuffled, not vetted, so a four-suit board can genuinely run out of moves. When that happens the game puts a "No moves available" banner on the felt, with Undo and New Game on it, rather than leaving you to hunt for a move that is not there.

Spider Solitaire 4 suits strategy

  • Read the pip, not the color. A 7♣️ on an 8♠️ looks like a neat black sequence and is two different suits. Those cards will never move together. Check the symbol before every build.
  • You cannot keep all ten columns clean, so pick which ones. Choose two or three columns to hold pure single-suit runs and let the others be a dumping ground. Trying to keep every column tidy just stalls the whole board.
  • Turning a face-down card comes first; opening a column comes second. Both are good. An empty column is the only place you can unpick a mixed pile a card at a time, but every face-down card you turn is information the board is still hiding from you.
  • Build short same-suit pairs and let them grow. Thirteen cards of one suit is a long project and it arrives near the end of a game, not the start. Tearing a column apart to force a run early usually leaves the board worse.
  • Undo goes back through everything, a stock deal included. Use it to test whether a line opens anything up before you commit to it.
  • Hold the stock until you are genuinely stuck. Every deal drops a fresh card onto the suits you just separated, and one misplaced club can break a block you spent twenty moves building.

For the same board with less to track, Spider 2 Suits keeps spades and hearts only, so color still names the suit, and Spider 1 Suit is all spades, where rank is the only thing that counts.
